Magnum, Jeroboam, Balthazar... These are wine bottle names!?!?  Hopefully this chart can help clear up some of the confusion around wine bottle sized and names.  As well as the traditional 750ml wine bottle (the size you normally find in supermarkets and wine shops), and the half-bottle (375ml), there are a number of large format wine bottles. Many of these are named after biblical kings. The most frustrating thing about wine bottle names may be the fact that the same name may be used to refer to different size bottles in different regions however. Here are the large format names and sizes.

Famous Quotes

" One should write not unskillfully in the running hand, be able to sing in a pleasing voice and keep good time to music; and, lastly, a man should not refuse a little wine when it is pressed upon him. "

- Yoshida Kenko 1283 - 1350
